Translation Software Overview
The latest version of SDL Trados Studio 2017 is one of the most popular CAT (computer-assisted translation) solutions and the global market leader in Translation Memory based software. The Translation Memory concept is based on the detection of text fragments already available in the application’s database. This software was developed by the British company SDL International (the German company Trados GmbH in the past). In 1992, Trados released the first version of its application. Since then, the Company has continued to make improvements to its products.
memoQ is a proprietary computer-assisted translation software suite that was developed by the Hungarian company Kilgray Translation Technologies. The main features of this software application include:

SmartCAT is one of the most innovative and largest computer-assisted translation systems developed by the Russian company ABBYY LS. It includes an enormous range of functions, including standard functions (Translation Memories, machine translation, handling of glossaries, collaborative document instruments) and specific functions such as a globalization management system and a freelance market management system.
Memsource is a cloud-based translation environment developed by the Czech company Memsource. It includes the following suite of software: Memsource Cloud, Memsource Web Editor, and Memsource Editor. It supports dozens of various formats.
Regardless of the software used, keep in mind that most have a similar structure and operative functions (the basic package offers similar solutions). Therefore, choose an application and implement it into your daily work process. The use of the application will contribute to improving the three key elements – speed, quality, and cost.
